Tom Howard/Margaret Reid Poetry ContestWinning Writers presents its 21st annual Tom Howard/Margaret Reid Poetry Contest, co-sponsored by Duotrope. We will award the Tom Howard Prize of US$3,000 for a poem in any style or genre and the Margaret Reid Prize of US$3,000 for a poem that rhymes or has a traditional style.
You may submit unpublished poems as well as poems that have been published or won prizes elsewhere. Authors in most countries are eligible, including the UK.
Ten Honorable Mentions will receive US$300 each (any style). The top 12 entries will be published online. The top two winners will also receive two-year gift certificates from Duotrope. Length limit per poem: 250 lines. Read the past winning entries with remarks from our judges.
Submit 1-3 poems online for a US$22 fee. This contest is recommended by Reedsy, and Winning Writers is one of the "101 Best Websites for Writers" (Writer's Digest, 2023).
